The Game 9-10-18

On this week's edition of "The Game" Scott Nason is broadcasting from the Wicked Sister in downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and on WUPN Eagle 95.1 FM getting listeners up to date on the local sports scene, including the last couple weeks of high school football, volleyball, Lake Superior State University athletics, along with the opening of the NOJHL season and the Soo Greyhounds.

The first guest is Devon Mulry, the new assistant men's basketball coach at LSSU as he talks about his experience working under Michigan's John Beiline and his role with this years Laker squad.

Butch Davis from the radio show "Butch On Sports" joins the show next. to talk about the Lions opener against the NY Jets, the Tigers and the rumble in the broadcast booth, along with the local sports scene in Metro Detroit, the Red Wings, and Serena Williams and the U.S. Open.

The second hour of the show includes the round table with Eagle 95.1's Katie Wollan and EJ Russell as they discuss ties and Week 1 of the NFL, and more about Serena Williams and what happened at the U.S. Open along with their Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down for the week.

On this edition...Rod Allen and Mario Impemba, TV broadcasters for the Detroit Tigers on Fox Sports Detroit, won’t do another Tigers broadcast in 2018. Fox Sports Detroit announced their decision on Friday, a day after it was reported that Allen and Impemba got into a physical fight after a game... along with other sports topics from the Metro Detroit and sporting world.

Thunderbirds D Man Ryan Lawrence stops by talking about his excitement being annouced Assistant Captain, expectations individually and as a team going into the season as puck drops Friday at the Rhodes vs The Soo Eagles. also discusses his plans after hockey and his love for Sault Ste Marie, along with some funny personal questions for Ryan.  Justin and Dave also discuss some NHL updates with Tyler Seguin and Max Pacorietty contract talks, Blake Wheelers contract extension Erik Karlsson discussion, Seattle expansion discussion, Leafs feeling the heat of expecatation going into the season and Nate Schimidt suspenson, and after NHL chat they discuss the Josh Donaldson trade.

The Game 9-5-18

On this week's edition of The Game Sports Show, Dave McCaig, Jamie Antonello and Justin Hykel are at Sportscenter Bar & Grill, in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, named once again the Soo's best sports bar discussing our in NFL Season Launching In The Pocket Segment (annouced earlier in summer In The Pocket would be a year round occurrence) discussing Football on a Local prespective with Sabrecats concluding recap, High school football getting underway with East West and update from a local prespective, also chatting NFL trade, signing and free style topics.

The sports talk continues with Week 1 of NFL discussion with anaylsis of games, predictions and favourites going into the season. On this edition...The 50th Anniversary of the 1968 World Series: A Pop-Up Exhibit is an intimate celebration of artifacts showcasing the 1968 season. The pop-up exhibit was curated by the Ilitch Holdings Curation and Collections Team and features over 30 artifacts including historic exterior lettering from Tiger Stadium that was visible from the corner of Michigan and Trumbull, Bill Freehan and Ernie Harwell’s World Series rings, an authentic 1968 usher’s uniform and a Tiger Stadium ticket window, circa 1912. The pop-up exhibit will mark the first time in history these artifacts will be displayed together. The pop-up exhibit is housed in the Blue Moon Brewhouse on the upper concourse of Comerica Park. The Blue Moon Brewhouse has been temporarily transformed to feature large exterior image wraps of Tiger Stadium and concourse windows displaying oversized photos of 1968 Tigers players. The pop-up exhibit will open to the general public at 5:30 p.m., Friday, September 7 when gates open for the Detroit Tigers vs. St. Louis Cardinals 7:10 p.m. game and will remain open for all games throughout the homestand (a game ticket is required). For this limited time, the pop-up exhibit has been added to Comerica Park public tours which take place on Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on game days.
